Therapy Agreement
Payment
Payment is required a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled session. The session fee will be discussed and agreed during your free 20-minute consultation. An invoice will then be sent to you, including my bank details should you wish to pay via BACS.
Cancellations
I ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment.
I understand that unforeseen circumstances and emergencies can arise, so if you are unable to give 24 hours' notice, please contact me as soon as possible. I will always aim to offer the same courtesy and provide at least 24 hours' notice if I need to cancel or rearrange a session.
If less than 24 hours' notice is given for a cancellation that could reasonably have been avoided, the full session fee will be payable before any further appointments can be booked.
Confidentiality
Everything you share within therapy is treated as confidential and will not be shared without your consent, except where I have a legal or ethical duty to disclose information. This includes situations involving:
Concerns about the abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult.
A court order requiring disclosure.
Where there is a serious risk of harm or death to yourself or another person.
Disclosures relating to money laundering, drug trafficking, or acts of terrorism.
Clinical Supervision
As part of safe and ethical practice, I attend regular clinical supervision. I may discuss aspects of my client work with my supervisor to ensure I am providing the best possible support. No identifying or personal information is shared.
Session Notes
I keep brief notes relating to each session. These are stored securely and confidentially in accordance with data protection requirements.
Alcohol and Substances
I ask that you do not attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed substances, as this can affect the therapeutic process.
Medical Support
You agree to seek appropriate medical assistance if required, for example if you are at risk due to serious self-harm or any other urgent medical concern.
Respectful Behaviour
I am committed to providing a safe and respectful therapeutic environment. Verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, or physical aggression towards me will result in the immediate termination of the session and may lead to therapy ending.
Contact Between Sessions
Unless we have agreed otherwise, I ask that contact outside of scheduled sessions is limited to arranging, rearranging, or cancelling appointments.

If you feel that you are in immediate crisis or unable to keep yourself safe, please contact the appropriate support services:

Please note that I am unable to provide a crisis service between appointments.
Complaints
If you have any concerns about our work together, I encourage you to discuss them with me in the first instance wherever possible. If you feel unable to do so, you may make a complaint directly to the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Professional Standards
I work in accordance with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) Code of Ethical Practice, ensuring that therapy is delivered safely, professionally, and ethically.
A copy of this therapy agreement will be provided to you before therapy begins. By proceeding with therapy, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
