ABOUT ME

  • My name is Sharon, and I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Advanced EMDR Therapist with additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and a range of other therapeutic approaches.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working within mental health services, supporting people with a wide variety of emotional and psychological difficulties. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the challenges people can face and reinforced the importance of having a safe, compassionate space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted without judgement.

Alongside my professional experience, I also understand the impact of living with undiagnosed AuDHD and how spending years feeling different, misunderstood, or trying to fit into a world not designed for neurodivergent minds can affect every aspect of life. This personal insight, alongside my professional knowledge, allows me to support clients with empathy, authenticity, and a genuine understanding that healing is never about "fixing" who you are.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a Psychotherapist and Group Supervisor within a local mental health charity and am also affiliated with a national suicide prevention charity. These roles continue to broaden my experience and allow me to support people facing complex mental health difficulties and emotional distress.

I believe therapy should never be a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Every person is unique, and I work with the person in front of me rather than simply following one therapeutic model. Whether using EMDR, DBT, or drawing on a range of other approaches, my aim is to help you make sense of your experiences, process difficult memories, regulate overwhelming emotions, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I am passionate about continuing my professional development and regularly undertake additional training to ensure I can offer the most effective, evidence-based support possible. My goal is to provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to be yourself, explore whatever is going on for you, and create meaningful, lasting change.

    How I Work

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on your individual needs and goals. My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, creating a safe and supportive environment where you can work at your own pace.

I understand that reaching out for support can be one of the hardest steps to take. My aim is to provide a confidential, non-judgemental space where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, talk openly about what's going on for you, and feel genuinely heard and understood. Together, we'll work towards helping you make sense of your experiences, develop new ways of coping, and create meaningful, lasting change.
